Compassion Outreach Feeds Over 2,000 Families in Lagos Food Drive

LAGOS — More than 300 volunteers from fourteen congregations gathered at dawn on Saturday as the Compassion Outreach Network conducted its largest food distribution to date, reaching over 2,000 families across three communities.

Each family received a week's supply of staples — rice, beans, garri, and cooking oil — along with an invitation to a free medical screening hosted at the distribution sites. Over 400 people saw volunteer doctors and nurses, and local pastors were on hand throughout the day to pray with anyone who asked.

"We preach a gospel people can both hear and taste," said Bro. Samuel Mwangi, the network's coordinator. "James asks what good it is to say 'be warmed and filled' while doing nothing. This is the church being the answer to its own prayers."

Organisers say the next distribution is planned for November, with a goal of 3,000 families. Churches and individuals interested in volunteering or giving can reach the network through their local congregations.
